World Bowls Championships At Potters - January, 2020
Santa Cruz Bowls Club member Lawrence Quill was in England representing the USA in the World Bowls Championships at Potters Resort on January 14th. He faced a very tough opponent in Alex Marshall, number 12 rated bowler in the world. Though unable to prevail he made a good accounting of himself and made us proud he is a Santa Cruz bowler. Well done Lawrence!!
You can find the video of his game along with all of the other matches on YouTube. Just go to "World Indoors Bowls Championship" and look for "Day 6-session 3". You will find all of the other matches there as well.

50th Anniversary Party/Tournament A Smashing Success!
We had a great turnout for the annivesary pairs tournament and luncheon. Thanks to all who made it possible, especially Christine Palochak whose tireless efforts continue to propel this club forward.
The weather was perfect for the anniversary
tournament. We had 25 different bowlers participate in the 3 games. New mats
and jacks were debuted and are very well liked. The yellow mats are quite striking
on the green. There were 10 city staff members who joined us for a lunch provided
by Don Betto of Salinas. A real treat was the slack key guitar performance by our
own Nino Bachar. Thank you, Nino! Congratulations to Gary Luttringer, Jerry
Ridley and Dennis Beck, our first, second and third place winners.
2013 Jaws Tournament
Once again we traveled down to Del Mesa to slug it out with our friends of Carmel Valley. We were able to field four games and battled to a tie: 1 win,1 loss and 2 ties. It was a beautiful sunny and warm afternoon and of course the views from this green are unmatched. Just wait until next year
Happy 100th Renee!
Our very own beloved Renee Sayer turned 100 years old on Tuesday, April 23,2013. A party was held at her residence with more than 100 people attending. Renee has been an active member of the club for 30 years and up until last year could be found at the draw games 2-3 times a week. After a shot that pleases her she will be seen saluting her bowl.
Many of the Bowls Club members who attended the party.
The fire department was in attendance to wish Renee Happy Birthday and since there were so many candles they took on the hazardous task of lighting them all.
They also helped to extinquish the ensueing blaze!
Renee mentored Ernie Rideout 20 years ago when he was just a lad of 75.

The day started with the usual overcast but by 11am sunshine ruled the skies. Thanks to everyone who attended and made a wonderfull day of bowling.
Way To Go Gentlemen!
